Outcomes of radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular arrhythmias at Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in the treatment of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and ventricular arrhythmias (VA) at Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital.
Methods: An observational descriptive study was conducted on 112 patients (61 with SVT and 51 with VA) who underwent electrophysiological study and RFA between April 2022 and June 2025. Patients were monitored for six months post-procedure. The endpoints included technical success, symptom improvement, recurrence, and complication rates.
Results: The technical success rates were 95.1% in the SVT group and 92.2% in the VA group. At 6-month follow-up, 94.5% of patients reported complete resolution of clinical symptoms such as palpitations, chest discomfort, and dizziness. The recurrence rate was 4.9% for SVT and 7.8% for VA. The overall complication rate was 1.8%, all of which were minor and managed conservatively. No procedure-related deaths occurred.
Conclusion: RFA is a safe and effective treatment modality for both SVT and VA. The study affirms that this intervention can be successfully implemented at provincial-level hospitals, contributing to improved arrhythmia care in resource-limited settings.
