Abstract

Objectives: To describe the anxiety status of patients before percutaneous coronary intervention using the HAM-A scale at Hanoi Heart Hospital in 2023, and to analyze some factors related to anxiety in patients before percutaneous coronary intervention.

Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study combined with qualitative methods.

Results: A survey of 300 patients participating in the study showed that 205 patients (68.3%) had no anxiety. Among those with anxiety, severe anxiety accounted for 12.3%, moderate anxiety for 12.7%, and mild anxiety for 6.7%. Conversely, the results showed that 95 (31.7%) patients experienced anxiety. The study results revealed a statistically significant relationship between gender, recent diagnosis, and duration of treatment with the patient's anxiety status (p<0.05).

Conclusion: Patients experience a significant number of anxiety issues before percutaneous coronary intervention. Nurses must understand their concerns to provide explanations, encouragement, and both mental and physical support to improve their mental health and help them recover quickly.
