Complete surgical repair of tetralogy of fallot for under 6-month-old patients in cardiovascular center – E hospital

Abstract
Objectives: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is the most common type of cyanotic congenital heart disease. The four abnormalities that make up the tetralogy of Fallot including: ventricular septal defect, right ventricular outflow tract obstruction, overriding aorta, right ventricular hypertrophy. Surgery is the only effective treatment for tetralogy of Fallot. However, the optimal time for complete surgery remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted this research to demonstrate the outcomes of complete repair of tetralogy of Fallot in patients under 6 months in cardiovascular center – E hospital from 2015 – 2018. Patients and methods: Retrospective descriptive study, from 2015 to 2018; there were 43 patients eligible for the study; average age: 4,48 months; average weight: 6,4 kg; average RV-PA pressure gradient: 84,42 mmHg. Treatment: complete surgical repair. Results: 100% patients survived; Pulmonary valve annulus preservation rate: 20 patients (47%); RV-PA pressure gradient after surgery:21,92 mmHg; Pulmonary regurgitation: 50% non/mild, 45% moderate, 5% severe. Mid-term results (19,4 months): no incidence of death; RV-PA pressure gradient: 23,21 mmHg; only one patient needed re-operating because of RV-PA pressure gradient was 80 mmHg. Conclusion: complete repair for patients under 6 months old with tetralogy of Fallot is a safe and effective treatment.1
