Fixation of rib fractures by rib plating: indication, result

Abstract

There were 33 cases. Among them, 12 patients were applied 2 plates, 16 patients with 3 plates, and 5 patients with 4 plates. There were 4 cases with flailed chest, among them, only one had two plates in the same rib, three others had one only. Postoperatively, patients were free of pain and hemothorax and also restoring rib cage volume.Flailed chest were well treated in all 4 cases.
