Abstract
Objective
Identify the direct costs medical for
ventricular septal defect closed procedure and
analysis the risk factors affecting the cost of VSD
closed procedure
Methods: Retrospective descriptive sudy in
268 patients who underwent surgery for VSD
closed, qualitative combines quantitative method
Results: The average cost of patient who
underwent surgery for VSD closed is 31.400.909
VND, in which the cost of consumable materials
accounted for the largest proportion (77%).
During the treatment period, the period in the
operating room with the highest cost (80%). The
cost per day of treatment in the preoperative
period with the median is 131 754 VND, in the
ICU period with the median is 746 901 VND, the
period after surgery in patients with the median is
182 977 VND. There are differences in the costs
of the group under 1 year old, with Down
syndrome, with other birth defects and pulmonary
artery hypertension.
Conclusion: The average cost of patient who
underwent surgery for VSD closed is 31.400.909
VND, in which the cost of consumable materials
accounted for the largest proportion (77%). Risk
Factors for higher Cost in VSD procedure: the
patient under 1 years old, pulmonary artery
hypertensive, with Down syndrome, with other
birth defects.
