Abstract

We report Viet Nam’s first cardiopulmonary
bypass survey in 2012. The survey which
enquired about perfusion practice, technique and
perfusionists. Of the 26 centers contacted, 58%
(15) completed the survey. Almost of them is in
the North of Viet Nam. There are 12 centers in
the North. Of these centers, 50% were small
centers. There are 50 perfusionists, 34% of them
training in foreign. Coutries 83% normothermic,
17% hypothermic. Crystalloid cardiopleghia
solution was used as myocardial protection by
33% of the centers. A roller pump as the arterial
pump by 100%, vacuum assisted venous drainge
by 58%. Convention ultrafiltration was used
during bypass by 25%. No center used modified
ultrafiltration at the end of the procedure. Some
trends used vacuum assisted venous drainage and
normothermic with warm blood cardiopleghia.
We will be constantly updated to provide a basic
for research, training and management.
