Midterm results of infrarenal abdominal aneurysm treatment at Dong Nai General Hospital

Abstract

Introduction: Abdominal aortic aneurysm is an increasingly common pathology, open surgery as well as intervention are effective methods of treatment, mortality in emergency treatment of ruptured aortic aneurysm. The abdomen is still high and is a challenge for vascular surgeons.[1]

Objective: To evaluate the short-term and medium-term results of abdominal aortic aneurysm treatment including intervention and surgery at Dong Nai General Hospital.

Subjects and methods: All patients treated for abdominal aortic aneurysm at Dong Nai General Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022. Descriptive study of a series of cases.

Results: There were 22 cases of abdominal aortic aneurysm treatment, in which: 17 men (77.3%), mean age 68.8 ± 7.5 years. There were 19 cases of surgery, 3 cases of intervention, 6 cases of emergency surgery due to rupture of aneurysms. Postoperative results: 3 deaths, 1 case of acute limb embolism, 1 case of abdominal wound infection, 2 cases of postoperative acute kidney injury, average postoperative time: Surgery: 8 1 day, intervention: 6.3 days. Mean follow-up time: 10.6 months. 0 cases died during the follow-up period.

Conclusion: The initial results of the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms at Dong Nai General Hospital showed positive results, however, the follow-up time and sample size were small.
