Complications of pacemaker implantation: mid-term follow-up

Abstract

Objective: There are very limited data of complications of pacemaker implantation in Vietnam


Method and Results: From 1/2015 to 12/2019, 1227 consecutive patients with bradycardias, aged 60,39 ± 18,93 years (40,34% male) were underwent the pacemaker implantation. Models of pacemaker is 59,01% with one chamber device and 40,99% with two chambers device. Early complications of pacemaker implantation were pneumothorax of 0,24%, hematoma in pocket of 1,87%, lead dislodgment of 0,57%. Late complications of pacemaker implantation were pocket infection of 0,33%, ventricular arrhythmias of 2,61%, atrial fibrillation of 3,34% and heart failure of 0,33%.


Conclusion: The pacemaker implantation procedure is safe and very low complications.
